Stutter Social is a new kind of support group, that meets online using Google+ Hangouts. Groups of up to 10 people can video chat with each other from their homes – all one needs is a computer with a webcam and a free Google+ account. Stutter Social is the brain child of David Resnick and Daniele Rossi, tech-heads who met at the 2011 NSA conference, who wanted to do something for people who stammer using digital media and the web.

There are 4 Hangouts held weekly, with one specifically timed for those in the UK / Europe. Occasionally, hangouts feature special guests as well. The Hangouts have seen an incredibly diverse group of people joining with people from Ireland, USA, India, Pakistan, Croatia, South Africa and all over the UK. It is a fun way to truly connect with others who stammer using the Internet and discuss diverse topics that are not always stammering related.

The UK Hangout meets every Wednesday at 8:00 PM and is facilitated by Krishna Srinivasan, a BSA member. To see a full schedule go to stuttersocial.com where you can sign up for an email notification or connect with the group using Google+, Facebook or Twitter.
